Prior to conducting any fieldwork, an anthropologist must file a with the organization with whom they are working. This document includes the consent form that the researcher will give to participants, details about their research site, an approval letter from the researcher's department if at a university, the researchers' information and background, and any permission paperwork from the location where the research is to occur.
