How can presentation aids help your speech?

Presentation aids can fulfill several functions: they can serve to improve your audience's understanding of the information you are conveying, enhance audience memory and retention of the message, add variety and interest to your speech, and enhance your credibility as a speaker.

the rebels’ chances of victory at lexington & concord were fairly slim, given the fact that most of them very untrained and they were up against the world's greatest military force.  

are there actual statements because if not my answer would be: that using the five senses the author can create a sense of worth in an object to appeal to the reader and create meaning.
