Three friends were looking at a picture of an impact crater experiment from NASA and were talking about what happens when a meteorite collides with the surface of the moon. Sam says: I think a force is transferred to the rocks that get ejected when the meteorite collides with the surface. The force is carried with the rocks but becomes less, and less as they hit they fall back to the ground,

Jackie says: I think the force of the meteorite causes energy to be transferred to the rocks that get ejected. Anything in motion must have energy. Forces are interactions between two things and cannot be transferred.

Hector says: I think that both forces and energy are transferred to the rocks that get ejected. The force is carried with the rocks as they move and since the rocks weren't moving before, but are now, means they must have gotten energy from the meteorite too.
