Gehendra Shumsher (Nepali: गेहेन्द्र शमशेर, 1871–1906) was a Nepali innovator, firearm designer, and general in the then Nepali Army. He was the eldest son of Bir Shumsher, the third prime minister of the Rana dynasty. He is generally regarded as the first scientist of Nepal.

Gehendra Shumsher was the son of Rana Prime Mimister Bir Shumsher.He was born in Poush 1928 BS.He received his primary education from Durbar High School.He was interested in new inventions,music,sports and physical exercises.He made many guns.He bought books,maps and charts and catalogue related to arms and ammunitions from Japan and Britian.

Thus,Gehendra Shumsher is regarded as the first prime minister of Nepal.He died a mysterious death at the age of 35 in 1963 BS.
