Folding of rocks occurs from compressional stresses or shear stresses that is acting on the rocks with the passage of time. Due to high stress, folding of rocks occurs but if the stress is too high for the rock so the rock will cracked. Faults produces stress on the rocks which leads to bending or folding of rocks so we can say that faults is responsible for folding of rocks.
