1. Critique three ads that you see on TV or in a magazine. Answer the following questions about each ad:
a. What claims are made for the product that is advertised? How is it supposed to improve your life?
b. Make a chart that divides these claims into two categories: tangible, concrete claims (facts) emotional, image-producing claims (opinions)
c. Are you interested in this product’s concrete claims?
d. Are you interested in this product’s emotional appeal?
e. Have you ever used this product?
• If so, does it live up to its concrete claims?
• Does it live up to its emotional claims?
f. What concrete and emotional claims might you use in your own advertising campaign for the product?
2. Write a list showing the production of chain, distribution, and consumption for an item you use frequently. Be sure to include the three securities of production, starting with yourself. Think of as many steps as you can for how that item is produced and passes its way through to you.
