The only option that is not a step in resolving conflict is keeping the issue to yourself. In order to resolve a conflict, you need to understand what the problem is, understand how those involved are feeling, communicate your thoughts and feelings, and then provide solutions. If you keep the problem to yourself, you are simply bottling up the problem as well as your feelings. This does not resolve a conflict, at best it delays it, which ultimately causes the conflict to be much worse and cause even more unexpected problems.

Conflict arises when there is some disagreement or misunderstanding between two persons or parties which could be as a result of differences in ideas, processes, interests or beliefs. Since no two persons are exactly the same, it is only normal for a conflict to happen.

Resolution of conflicts can be done in so many ways or steps:

i. One or both of the conflicting parties could try listening to how the other person feels. That way, it would be easier to make unselfish judgements about the issue thereby helping to resolve the conflict.

ii. Taking some time out to cool off is also a great way to resolve conflict. Taking some time out creates room to calm one's nerves down and reduce the tension or stress caused by the conflict.

iii. Figuring out what is really bothering oneself will also help alleviate the conflict. People go through a whole lot at some point in time. Taking some moment to see whether or not one is clouded by what is bothering them or what they are going through will help resolve conflicts.

However, keeping the issue to oneself will not help resolve the conflict. It will only create room for piling up the concerns and this worsens the situation.
