During social skills instruction, Siddharth is able to state all the steps in the social skill of joining in a conversation. He is able to role play this skill with accuracy, even when his cue card is faded. However, when he encounters authentic conversation between his peers, Sidharth often needs to be prompted to stop and think about the steps in the strategy of joining in. Once he views his visual prompt, he is able to go through the steps. However, the reminder and pauses while executing the steps impede the natural flow of the conversation. Siddharth is in the phase of learning. He will need opportunities to practice in order to build his ease and natural delivery in joining in the flow of a conversation.
