The TAT and the Rorschach are Psychological tests of personality. Thematic Apperception Test or TAT is also known as the picture interpretation technique because the person is being tested on how he or she explains the picture that was presented to the person. While the Rorschach test is regularly used by Psychologist because it explores the emotional capacity of a person.

The TAT and the Rorschach are tests in which one is induced to project what one sees into an ambiguous or even abstract image to which one is exposed. The images are not meant to be anything really, but the test is based on the fact that the examined person will see something that will reveal something about one's own psyche.

subduction: when one plate plunges beneath another (fig. 7.15)

spreading: when two plates are pushed apart (fig. 7.15)

transform faulting: when two plates slide past each other (fig. 7.15)
