To which major cultural region should you move if you want to be close to large cities and the most famous universities?

In the United States if you want to live near major cities like Boston, New York City, Philadelphia and others as well as some of the most famous universities you would want to move to the Northeast. The famous universities in this region are Ivy League schools and other such as Harvard, Columbia, Penn, Boston College, and many others.
