You may have wet brakes

Heavy rain can cause wet breaks. Your brakes can get wet if you are driving in heavy rain or if you are driving through floods or standing water. If there is water in the brakes, the brakes would not grab and can also affect the brake powder.  

Wet brakes could cause your car to pull to one side whenever you apply the brakes and also result in wheel lockups.

If you are driving in the rain and you have wet brakes, it is advisable to slow down and ensure you use the low gear. Gently apply the brakes as this will prevent sand or water from entering the car brakes.

Also, while driving in the rain, it is advisable to increase the engine rpm and gently press the brakes.

If your car is out of the water, gently press the brakes for a short distance so that the brakes will heat up and free from water.

Also, try and apply the brakes to be sure that they are working properly, but do it only when you are sure no one is following you.

However, to avoid wet brakes, don’t drive in heavy rainfall or deep standing water.
