How were the economies of the northern and southern states different. how are they the same. what factors led them to develop differently?

can i have a non stupid answer and have some one answer .

Richer soil in southern states allowed for farming which was farmed by slaves, weaker soil caused northerners to use machinery so slaves were not used as much in the northern states. It's not to be said that there were no slaves at all in the northern states, there definitely were. The northern states just didn't rely on them like the southern states did.

The northern economies are based on industries and the southern economies are based on agriculture.

In North they build factories and sell the manufactured goods to the southern countries. They do not do much farming because their soil is rocky and colder climate make their growing season shorter. In South economy is based on agriculture. During the Civil War Southern countries were a big money market for the United States in terms of exports. The materials which they exported were cotton. The South lacked in these areas. The South has a very low manufacturing capability.  Southern Economy relied on plantation farming. Though the factories were built in the north as well as South the majority of the industrial manufacturing took place in the north. The South has 25% of the countries population and only 10% of the country‘s capital. The North has five times more industries than South and more than 10 times the number of industrial workers. Nearly 90% of the skilled labourers are in the north. In the North the labour force is expensive and workers are mobile and active. The immigrants from Europe and Asia providing competition in the labour market by keeping Wages low. On the other hand, Southern economies have a labour of African-American slaves who are oppressed and provide cheap labour. The other economy issue which divided North and South are tariffs.  Tariffs are on the tax imposed on imported goods. Southern countries want to lower tariffs by keeping the cost of imported goods low.
