Emails are not secure for sending confidential documents because there is always a security threat behind it. The emails can be traced and whatever file is attached to the email can be altered without the acknowledgment of sender. It is easy for others to intercept, monitor, and tamper with documents.  Moreover there is a chance of hacking too where hackers can alter the attached files and secure information can be leaked.

Sending an e-mail containing confidential files is a security risk for a few different reasons. To begin with, e-mails are sent between various servers. Every server an e-mail is sent to saves a copy of the e-mail, which can then be read by third parties. Some computer viruses can automatically use a person’s e-mail service to send those personal e-mails to anyone. If a user has a web-based e-mail account, the login and password can be cracked and all the messages a person has sent or received at that e-mail address may be accessed.
