What were some of the reasons that South Carolina left the Union?​

South Carolina withdrew from the United States on December 20, 1860. At the time Abraham Lincoln was trying to stop slavery from spreading to the Western territories. Texas, Mississippi, Georgia and South Carolina all issued additional documents, usually referred to as the "Declarations of Causes" which explains their decisions to leave the Union.
