What group of people brought halloween to north america?

I believe it was the Celtic people. The Celtic people occupied areas in the UK, Ireland and some parts of France. These ancient pagan people were very superstitious. A celebration known as Samhain (HALLOWEEN) began within this Gaelic culture to commemorate the end of the harvest or the days of light, and to acknowledge the beginning of winter. Though to them it was the beginning of darkness days and in their culture New Years was on November 1st (Which is today) because of the beginning of winter (darkness) days. That's why it's suppose to be spooky and stuff lol. THOUGH Halloween was probably brought by European immigrants that celebrated Samhain, I'm thinking it was a tradition that was passed down but it did begin by the Celtic people so I'll just stick to that or European immigrants that arrived in North America in the early, mid 1800's.
