Decentralization is defined as the transfer of power from a central government to sub-national level of the country.

Nepal is a decentralized country as many of the important regional decisions are taken by local elites and not by central government. Nepal is known as weak country as they have poor transportation and other services.  Decentralization will promote participation of population in important decisions and improve efficiency. Some of the example of decentralization in Nepal are Nepal Development Forum and social audits.
