Presidential Power has changed repeatedly during the times covered through our course. (1870-1990) Discuss at least three different ways Presidents have used and possibly abused (depending on your perspective), executive power. What responsibility do you think the President has to the American people?
(Think about the role of the President and how he impacts the way our country works. How have Presidents used their power? Have they always used it well or do you think there are President’s who have used it poorly or have done things that upset people. This question is asking you to consider the leaders in the different time periods we covered in class while also commenting on what responsibility you think the President has to the American people. An example would be James K Polk deciding to push Congress to declare War with Mexico over the Texas border just because the US wanted more land.)
