Only educated and enlightened people utilise their rights properly. How? justify.

In ancient Greece for example, scholars like Plato and Socrates were critical of the view of democracy that holds every citizen should vote. Much of Plato's writings were about his alternatives to democracy.  Plato made many arguments in his works like The Republic that cautioned against democratic rule understood as the majority get to vote and decide on social laws. In modern times it is feared that majority-rule democracy can lead to populism which is a politics that expressly tries to appeal to ordinary people who feel under-represented in the status quo sometimes at the expense of making difficult reforms or instituting progressive policies.
