Task: Imagine that you are a clinician who has been charged with trying to understand why your client (Bill) exhibits the many features of antisocial personality
disorder (ASPD). Remember that understanding how a client develops a particular
disorder is greatly informed by the many different psychological theories that we have
available to us. The different theories help us tell the client's story in a way that allows
for us to determine why they have developed a particular disorder; how to treat them;
and what their prognosis will be. The theory that you apply will change the way you tell
their story. For each of the three theorists, imagine how they would explain why Bill
meets the diagnostic criteria for ASPD: Sigmund Freud, Erik Erikson and Mary
Ainsworth/Diana Baumrind (may be discussed together). You are provided with a
word bank to help guide your discussions. Enter your response in the 1st box below.
All words selected must be correctly matched to the appropriate theorist. You are not
limited to this word bank; however, be certain that the terminology used is theory-
specific. Word Count Minimum: 300 Words
