Gandhi and his followers started daily marches during which they symbolically carried salt that has symbolically been picked up from the beach, thus breaking the rule.

Similarly, the Civil rights movement has been fighting racist laws and ideas against African Americans during the 60s in the US. The African-American community showed their resistance by breaking segregation laws with bus boycotts and freedom rides, as well as participating in non-violent sit-ins, marches, and demonstrations.
