What was the disagreement between the Eastern Orthodox Church and the Roman Catholic over icons?

The second commandment in the bible stated that Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image.  The eastern orthodox church interpret this as a ban for the usage of objects  such as idols or image of deities during worship.
