It is important to know cultural relativism because

It helps to increase levels of cooperation in the societyIt encourages equality between the various groups in the societyIt helps to preserve the culture of people in the societyIt eliminates judgment in the society.

The idea of cultural relativism is the notion that people do not have to judge the beliefs, practices and cultures of other people with the way things are done in their own culture.

What this means is that all cultures are unique and what is probable in one society may not be in another society.
