Pimping is simply the act of  asking or requesting for something either for yourself or or behalf of another person  in this case a prostitute or a brothel in order to make (earn) some money for a living.

It is also called pandering or procuring. in this act, an individual acts as a facilitator, solicitor  by  providing customers for sex works or prostitute in order to make some money to survive. A vivid example is when one is actively  operating a prostitution ring/business.
