What are the criticisms of the Parsons and Murdocks view on family ?

Parson's has his critics too: Like Murdock Parsons is said to have an idealistic view of the family. he ignores family diversity. Parsons' (structural approach – functionalism is a structural approach) forgets children create their own personalities.Functionalism has been criticized for downplaying the role of individual action, and for being unable to account for social change. In the functionalist perspective, society and its institutions are the primary units of analysis.
