List the positive and negative effects of Porfirio Diaz's presidency below.

Positive: Great progress and modernization, and the Mexican economy boomed. Mines, plantations, and factories were built. Many Spanish came to Mexico to work as merchants and on the plantations. The economy boomed and many miles of railway track was added to connect all of the important cities and ports.

Negative: The peons worked in virtual slavery. The poor were excluded from society. Many of the people that cam to Mexico were treated very badly.
