Carbon cycle can be described as the series of cycling of carbon compounds in the environment in various forms involving the incorporation of carbon dioxide into living tissue by photosynthesis and its return to the atmosphere through respiration, the decay of dead organisms, and the burning of fossil fuels.

When fossil fuels are burnt, carbon is released back into the atmosphere. Plants will take this carbon for photosynthesis. When animals will eat plants, these carbon compounds will be transferred to animals. The carbon compounds will be released into the atmosphere once an organism dies.
