The reflex disappears around 6 months of age and is activated when support for the neck and head is suddenly removed. The arms of the infant are thrust outward and then appear to grasp onto something.

Moro reflex  is an infantile reflex. It develops between 7 to 8 months  of gestation. It disappears between when child become 3-6 months old.

It is a survival instinct that alerts the infants to its loss of balance and prevent them from losing grip of their mother.

There are three components  of moro reflex;  adduction ( spreading the arms), adduction ( pulling the arms in) and crying.
