A nearsighted person cannot see distant objects clearly without corrective lenses because of defects of the lens of the eye. Yet, such a person can see distant objects more clearly through a pinhole. Considering thatnearsightedness in many ways is like the spherical aberration mentioned on page 537, think about how pinholes form images to explain how focus is possible with a pinhole in front of the nearsighted eye. If you happen to be nearsighted, try it without your glasses and see!I am actually very near sided and am basically blind as a bat. It was very interesting to take my contacts outand actually be able to see through such a small pinhole. Its all about where light is being focused at. According to page 537, when using corrective lenses, it focuses where the light passes through to get a good focal view. When looking through the pinhole, it brings the light to a certain point and brings clarity.
