The Federalists believed that a strong federal government is preferable to strong state governments. I believe this to be the case, as a strong federal government is more likely to be able to ensure equal rights and protections across state lines. Moreover, a federal Constitution has the power to control the excesses and abuses of the federal government. Finally, I believe that new, modern industries were the future of the country, as opposed to farming.
