Rama and sita are said to personify the ideals of matrimony with their constancy and love for each other. discuss that statement with regard to rama and sita, and then compare/contrast their marriage/relationship to the concept of marriage today. do you think their marriage is comparable in today’s society? why or why not?

The story of Rama and Sita was first written in Sanskrit in Ramayana. The story tells the story of Ramah's journey in search of his beloved wife, Sita, who was kidnapped by the demon Ravana. Rama does not live without Sita and so faces a great and dangerous battle for love and fear of losing his beloved.

The love story between Rama and Sita can embody anyone's ideas of marriage. We all want someone who fights for us and protects us from any danger. However, can we compare Rama and Sita's marriage with today's marriages? Well, it depends on the point of view. There are couples who love each other very much today, similar to the love established between Rama and Sita, however, this dependence and fragility between the married couple of the 21st century, is nothing like what happens with Rama and Sita.

The marriage of Rama and Sita puts them in very specific positions that do not fit the current marriages. Ramah is placed in the position of provider, protector, the one who decides, who is strong and who fights; while Sita is placed in the position of protected, fragile, defenseless and powerless. These positions are not applicable in current marriages, since roles are equally distributed between a house. Women no longer assume the position of fragile and protected, as many women have provided for their husbands and their homes, on the other hand, many men have stepped back and allowed their wives to fight with them and not just be like extras hoping to have all the problems solved by her heroes.
