Culture is transmitted to the employees in number of ways. One way is material symbols in which the culture is transmitted.

Material symbols are the symbols which convey to the employees who is the important and degree of the equality desired by the top management, and kinds of the behavior which are expected and are appropriate to the organization.  

The examples of the material symbols include layout of the organization's facilities, the types of the automobiles provided to the top executives, how the employees dress, and availability of the corporate aircraft.
