1- United States v. Nixon was a famous lawsuit filed in the United States Supreme Court between the United States and then-reelected US President Richard Nixon in 1974 who, charged with involvement in a criminal action against the opposition party's office during the presidential campaign of 1972, argued in court that he was not obliged to present evidence that would incriminate him, by virtue of the prerogative of his position. Evidence of his involvement in the case led to the opening of a new impeachment case against the president, who had filed applications since 1971.

The outcome of the trial was unanimous in favor of the United States (8-0) and considered crucial to the final stages of the investigation of the political scandal known as the Watergate Scandal and the consequent impeachment decision.
