In the United States, an executive order is a directive announced by the President of the United States which controls the actions of the federal government and has the authority to enforce the law. An executive order is part of a broader range of directives called executive operations. An order is a legal procedure – which determines their authorization from Article II of the Constitution. Additional actions constitute presidential records and then promulgation and directives.
