The United States Constitution grants the power of impeachment to the House of Representatives (Article I, Section 2, the Constitution reads, “The House of Representatives shall chuse [sic] their Speaker and other Officers; and shall have the sole Power of Impeachment.”). Bringing impeachment charges against federal officials is part of the House of Representative's investigatory and oversight responsibilities.
