Why did slavery die out in the north by the early 1820's?

The main reason is that the North wasn't as agricultural so they didn't need slaves working the fields they where more mercantilist ( an economic system used to boost the nation's wealth using trade.)

They wanted to make slaves out of them.they wanted force them to move off their landthey wanted to make them grow crops for very little pay.they refused to speak native american languages
