What did installment buying allow consumers to do?

It basically allowed consumers to buy things on credit which is just basically paying for something over time such as a subscription or paying once a month such as for a house; It's mortgage is basically an installment plan for you to eventually own the house. Because of this it allowed people to buy things over time and to get what they wanted faster.
