Materials-

Earth Science: A Reference Guide -Earth Science: A Reference Guide - Earth's Oceans (pp. 124-125), Oceans Temperature (pp.130-131), Ocean Salinity(pp.132-133), Density of Ocean Water (pp.134-135)

watch

4 cups -tap water - You will need an ice cube tray and access to a freezer to freeze the water.

teaspoon

salt, table

1.) How will the ice water mix with the salty water? Write your hypothesis below.

(I can't add the picture of the chart so bear with me)

Solution - Hypothesis Describing Mixing - Hypothesis Describing Temperature

(Will the top be warmer, cooler, or the same as the bottom?)

Solution 1

(Freshwater) - -

Solution 2

(salty water) - -

Solution 3

(saturated water)- -

2.) Complete the data table. Sketch, use your computer to draw or write a detailed description to describe how the ice melts into the different solutions. At each interval, record the temperature at the top and bottom of the glass.

(Again I can't add the pic of the chart so bear with me)

Solution 1 - 0 minutes- 5 minutes- 10 minutes- 30 minutes-

(Freshwater)

Temperature

(top of glass) --

Temperature

(bottom of the glass)--

Solution 2- 0 minutes- 5 minutes- 10 minutes- 30 minutes-

(salty water)

Temperature

(top of glass)- -

Temperature

(bottom of glass)-

Solution 3

(saturated water)- 0 minutes- 5 minutes- 10 minutes- 30 minutes-

Temperature

(top of glass)-

Teperature

(bottom of glass)-

3.) Summarize your data. Describe how the ice melted into each solution, and compare the temperatures at the top and bottom of the glass.

(can't add the pic, bear with me)

Solution-
Mixing (how did the colord, fresh, melt-water mix with the salty water?)- Temperature (Was the top warmer or cooler, or was it the same as the bottom?) -

Solution 1

(freshwater)--

Solution 2

(salty water)-

Solution 3

(saturated water)-

4.) What does your experiment suggest about what happens when icebergs melt into the ocean? Based on your data, do you think the sea-surface temperatures are warmer or cooler due to the melting water? Make sure you explain how your experiment helps you answer this question.

I really need help with this as soon as possible, if you do not know the answer to this do not answer please, let me repeat that, PLEASE DON'T ANSWER IF YOU DON'T KNOW THE ANSWER TO ALL THE QUESTIONS, also if your a k12 student, friend me so we can help each other with quizzes and stuff, and if you are a k12 student and you answer this, please don't put your exact answers on this, make it different from yours, I don't want a heart-attack email from my teacher.
