The Earth's mass is 5.97 X 1024 kg, Earth's radius is 6,371 km, and Earth's orbital radius is about 1.50 X 108 km. If the Earth has an amount of electric charge sufficient to produce an average electric field value of 153 V/m at its surface, what minimal magnitude of magnetic field would be required to explain Earth's orbital motion, assuming gravity to be completely absent? Hint: use Gauss' law to find Earth's charge.
