We have started to navigate how the standards are structured. For this assignment, we will be using the 4th grade Disciplinary Core Idea (DCI) PS4.A Waves and Their Application to Technologies for Information Transfer (Links to an external site.)
to help focus our prompts. As you might suspect these cover the topic areas of light, sound and electricity at the elementary level.
Prompt 1: Were you to be a fourth-grade teacher and given what you know currently, what crosscutting concept would be appropriate to use and what kinds of grade level conceptual objectives might fit? [Use the site and the NGSS Matrix to fully flesh this out].
Prompt 2: How would the Connections to the Nature of Science in the standard support the Crosscutting concept you picked?
Prompt 3: What would be two questions you would use to connect the students to the Crosscutting Concept you picked? Justify why you think these would provide the most bang for your buck. [Use the CrossCutSymbols site and your text}.
