A uniform steel rod has mass 0.300 kg and length 40.0 cmand is horizontal. A uniform sphere with radius 8.00 cm and mass 0.700 kg is welded to one end of the bar, and a uniform sphere with radius 6.00 cm and mass 0.580 kg is welded to the other end of the bar. The centers of the rod and of each sphere all lie along a horizontal line. How far is the center of gravity of the combined object from the center of the rod?
Express your answer with the appropriate units. Enter negative value if the center of gravity is toward the 0.700 kg sphere and positive value if the center of gravity is toward the 0.580 kg sphere.

Aball is thrown from the top of a building with an initial velocity of 21.9 m/s straight upward, at an initial height of 51.6 m above the ground. the ball just misses the edge of the roof on its way down, as shown in the figure. (a) determine the time needed for the ball to reach its maximum height. (b) determine the maximum height. (c) determine the time needed for the ball to return to the height from which it was thrown, and the velocity of the ball at that instant. (d) determine the time needed for the ball to reach the ground. (e) determine the velocity and position of the ball at t = 5.35 s.

A55-kg pilot flies a jet trainer in a half vertical loop of 1200-m radius so that the speed of the trainer decreases at a constant rate. knowing that the plane has a speed of 550 km/h at point a, and the pilot experiences weightlessness at point c (i.e., the normal force from the seat bottom is zero), determine (a) the deceleration of the plane, (b) the force exerted on her by the seat of the trainer when the trainer is at point b.

You are in a car that is traveling along highway 99 at a constant speed of 16 m/s. suddenly you see a truck also traveling at a constant speed (3.0 m/s) that is on a track to cross your lane from an alley on the right and is moving into your lane (which you can’t get out of, because of broader safety concerns like head on traffic in the other lane). your car’s maximum acceleration is 6.0 m/s2 (either way, gettingfaster or slower) and your reaction time of 0.75 s between first seeing the truck and applying the brake or the accelerator. the distance from the side street, where you first notice the truck, to the right edge of your lane is 2.0 m and the lane also has a fixed width of 4.0m, check for yourself that all these numbers are reasonable. you will assume a reasonable size for your car. the truck is 3.0 m wide.a) how long will it take the truck from the moment you notice it, to block enough of your lane so you can’t slip past while also staying in your own lane (in seconds)? b) how far will your car travel (in meters) while your brain is figuring out what to do? c) if you decide that braking is in your best interests how long will it take you to come to a complete stop once you begin the process of braking (in s)? d) what is the minimum distance (in m) you must be from the truck to successfully stop before hitting
