Magnitude Calculations
a) Estimate the number of breaths taken during an average human
.lifetime
Hint: Let we start by guessing that the typical human lifetime is about 70 years. Think about the average number of breaths that a person takes in 1 min. This number varies depending on whether the person is exercising, sleeping, angry, serene, and so forth. To the nearest order of magnitude, we shall choose 10 breaths per minute as our estimate. (This estimate is certainly closer to the true average value than an estimate of 1 breath per minute or 100 breaths per minute.)
b) What if the average lifetime were estimated as 80 years instead of 70? ?Would that change our final estimate

Aspring is used to stop a 50-kg package which is moving down a 20Âş incline. the spring has a constant k = 30 kn/m and is held by cables so that it is initially compressed 50 mm. knowing that the velocity of the package is 2 m/s when it is 8 m from the spring and neglecting friction, determine the maximum additional deformation of the spring in bringing the package to rest.
