The sense organs receive the information from the outside surrounding and convert it into electrical signals.

These signals are then carried by the sensory neuron (or afferent neuron) to the spinal cord.

The spinal cord takes the decision and sends it through the motor neuron (or efferent neuron) to the effector organ (like muscle).

This pathway of transmission of impulse is called reflex arc.
