Describe and explain what happens when the terminals of a charged capacitor are connected by a piece of copper wire

When any component is short-circuited, the component becomes irrelevant. Resistance between it’s terminals becomes zero irrespective of value of the component. In other words, capacitance ceased to exist.

For the circuit containing such capacitor, situation is somewhat like capacitor with infinite capacitance. However as the capacitor can not hold any charge, we can say that it is not not equivalent of infinite capacitance, because the capacitor can not hold any charge.

Hence we can say that the capacitance just vanishes, when the plates are joined together by a connecting wire.
