In two or more complete sentences, describe the purpose and outcome of the miller urey experiment.

Miller Urey experiment's purpose was to test the chemical origin of life under the conditions supposed to be present on the early Earth. 
The scientists Miller and Urey heated a mixture of water, ammonia, methane and hydrogen in a sterile flask until it evaporated water to produce water vapour. Electric sparks were passed through the mixture of water vapour and gases, simulating lightning. The experiment was done during one week. After a week, the contents were analysed and Miller and Uray proved that several organic compounds could be formed spontaneously by simulating the conditions of Earth's early atmosphere.
