The internal combustion engine has been criticized for ages for its negative effects on human health as well as the deterioration that it has caused to the environment with the release of Carbon Dioxide (CO2). However, to settle the skeptics, studies have been conducted to prove the environmental benefits of the internal combustion engine.

Lee, an Economist at the University of Georgia, livestock is responsible for 18% of the greenhouse gases that cause global warming, a far higher statistic than the contribution made by automobiles and aircrafts. The internal combustion engine began replacing horses as a source of power in the early 1900s, which started replacing the outputs from animals with exhaust from tailpipes.
