Electromagnetic and mechanical waves both transfer energy. how is an electromagnetic wave different from a mechanical wave?

an electromagnetic wave has frequency, and a mechanical wave does not.

an electromagnetic wave is made of atoms, and a mechanical wave is not.

an electromagnetic wave can travel in a vacuum, and a mechanical wave cannot.

electromagnetic waves have frequencies that never change, and mechanical wave frequencies change.
