Ihave to build a roller coaster with 3 hills and 2 valleys. hill a is 15 inches high, valley b is 3 inches high, hill c is 8 inches high, valley d is 5 inches high and the last hill e is 3 inches high. my questions are, when using a tennis ball as the cart.
1. what is the initial velocity of the tennis ball at the moment of its release at the top of the track? use this insight to calculate the initial and potential kinetic energy.
2. calculate the amount of gravitational potential energy at the top of each hill and at the bottom of each valley. be sure to convert your distance measurements to meters. use and approximate value of 58.0g. for the mass of the tennis ball, and 9.81 m/s squared as the excelleration due to gravity.
3. suppose that the force due to friction is negligible. what can you say about the total energy of the tennis ball? continue to assume that the force due to friction is negligible. use the information you've gathered to calculate the kinetic energy and the total energy at each location. describe the relationship between the potential and kinetic energy of the tennis ball as it travels the length of the roller coaster.
4. compare your answer to the previous question with your observations in conducting this experiment. discuss weather energy was conserved in your experiment. was friction negligible?

Acoyote chasing a rabbit is moving 8.00 m/s due east at one moment and 8.80 m/s due south 4.25 s later. let the x axis point due east and the y axis point due north. find the direction of the coyote's average acceleration during that time.

Acommon technique in analysis of scientific data is normalization. the purpose of normalizing data is to eliminate irrelevant constants that can obscure the salient features of the data. the goal of this experiment is to test the hypothesis that the flux of light decreases as the square of the distance from the source. in this case, the absolute value of the voltage measured by the photometer is irrelevant; only the relative value conveys useful information. suppose that in part 2.2.2 of the experiment, students obtain a signal value of 162 mv at a distance of 4 cm and a value of 86 mv at a distance of 5.7 cm. normalize the students' data to the value obtained at 4 cm. (divide the signal value by 162.) then calculate the theoretically expected (normalized) value at 5.7 cm.
