(d) its impossible to tell without knowing the masses of the balls.

It would have to be A. Ball A. This is because it had an impulse of 4m whereas ball B had an impulse of 2m. Therefore ball A had the larger impulse.

One form of Newton's second law is ...Impulse of force is change of momentumA and B are both dropped from 6m. So, they both reach the ground at the same time, having been each accelerated by acceleration of gravity. And, they'll have the same velocities. But, they'll have different momenta (ums). To calculate their momenta, their masses are needed. 
I'd say c was out because if the masses are different, then their changes of momentum will be different. That implies different impulses of forces.

I'm still thinking about this question. Either I'm missing something, or it's a bit more subtle than it looks.
