You might be able to get more torque for the same cost by using thinner wire, and wrapping up more coils of it. 12 gauge wire has a diameter of 2.05232 mm, and 20 gauge wire has a diameter of 0.8128 mm. How many more coils could you get for the same total mass if you use 20 gauge wire
