A driver and his scuba suit have a combined mass of 100 kg. The diver is using a 5.0 kg tool kit to repair a deep-sea panel on the International Deep-Sea
Station. When the tether connecting the diver to the submarine becomes
unattached, the diver, still holding the tool kit, starts to float away at 0.4 m/s.
The diver realizes that the only way he will be able to change his motion and
move back to the deep-sea station is to throw the tool kit. State which
direction should throw his tool kit. Use the law of conservation of momentum
to justify your answer.
(Should he throw it away or towards and WHY?)
